Hi friends, I’m Ava! I’m from southern Ohio and a first-year missionary in the full-time program here at Damascus! What a gift it is to be here! The reason I became a missionary started when I was a camper! I grew up in an amazing Catholic family and was a camper for four years! When I first came to Damascus I encountered Jesus for the first time and I learned that Jesus wanted to have a personal relationship with me! As a camper, I was so touched by the missionaries and their joy! I was so inspired by the fact that they chose to live completely for Jesus! That was what planted seeds in my heart to want to become a missionary! As I grew up and continued going to camp, I remember this moment in prayer when I realized that If I was made for the Lord, and made to be with Him, how could I not live my life completely for Him? How could I not live a life in service to Him? And so now I'm here, living for the Lord by serving His people! But I wouldn't be able to be here unless my mission partners first said yes to mission by giving so I could say yes by going! I'm so grateful for them and their yes!
