My Story

Hello! My name is Sydney Andrus and I am a first time summer missionary here at Damascus!! I have grown up in Gambrills, MD and am graduating this spring of 2024 from my high school Mount de Sales Academy! I will be continuing my education next year at the University of Kentucky studying Pre-Nursing and give all glory and honor to God for guiding me along this journey. It was growing up throughout middle school and realizing that our God is not only someone that is above and powerful, but who is close and intimate that made me realize that we all, as beloved of Christ, are called to relationship with Him. This realization sparked years of healing, growth, and encounter with Christ and His beloved. Over the course of my four years of high school, the Lord has continued to stir my heart and set it on fire with the desire of mission. This year, I gave my yes to Christ and decided to do something so unexpected and exciting, to join His mission of adventure at Catholic Youth Summer Camp!! I am so beyond blessed to say that I will be not only serving, but loving these campers as a missionary on counseling staff at CYSC Main Campus! The Lord continues to pour into my heart this desire to make His presence known, and to let His beloved rediscover that they can be made known through Him.
